Dell Emc Suite: the Essential Solutions for Backup and Data Protection in your Cloud

In an increasingly digital world, the amount of data we enter into the network every day is constantly growing. Having any online account exposes you to potential privacy risks, and the companies, who find themselves having to handle huge amounts of data, need to look for solutions that guarantee its protection.

To enable operational efficiency, resilience and scalability across the entire cloud infrastructure, at ever higher levels, Dell EMC Data Protection solutions are an excellent ally.

Dell EMC can offer solutions for cloud, multi-cloud and hybrid cloud, for 100% data protection.

Going into detail, what are these solutions?

  • Protection in the public cloud
  • Emergency Reset for the Cloud
  • Long-term conservation
  • Integration with hybrid cloud

Protection in the public cloud

More and more companies need to protect their data not only from accidental deletions or changes to their files or cyber attacks, cases for which using their backup archive may be enough to restore their data, but also from more serious events, which can make inaccessible both the production data and the device where the backups are stored. To protect themselves, there is a growing demand to relocate a copy of their backups to external datacenters (so-called "clouds"), made possible also because of the increasingly accessible costs and faster and faster internet connections.

Emergency Reset for the Cloud

Why not take advantage of the cloud presence of your own backups to permanently shut down those servers, which have long been considered a replacement?
Some providers make this possibility available, and document special procedures to "migrate" customer servers to the cloud platform itself, which in this way will no longer be used only as a backup archive, but also as a real datacenter, giving companies the ability to restore their machines not only in the local datacenter, but also in a cloud datacenter.

Long-term conservation

It is almost never enough to have a single backup copy, dated to the previous day, to be covered by common recovery needs, for various reasons; trivially, if you need to recover a file, it is not necessarily that the last night's backup includes it, as it may have been deleted even many days before; however, there is no better strategy to define the correct retention of your backups, but it must be adapted to the type of data processed. Almost all advanced backup systems allow the possibility of archiving several backup copies periodically, at regular intervals, to guarantee the customer a correct storage, and availability, of their data even after months or years (compatibly with the available storage space).

Integration with hybrid cloud

A common and conservative approach of cloud platforms is to choose to outsource only some of the company's core services, ensuring a progressive shift to the (inevitable) new ways of working; to this end, many systems provide integration between local and cloud systems, in order to meet the needs of companies that want to assess the impact of the cloud, without feeling bound to a platform that forces them to migrate their data in full.
